i hear it in alot of songs for example bossy - " while the 808 is jumpin" but i assume its like an abbreveations like 411 or 24/7

808 is a drum machine. Don't listen to people who says its an area code...it is but thats not what singers like Kelis and Beyonce are using it for ...they're using it for the drum definition.
