its gunna be a T-mobile Sidekick 3 and i already have t-mobile on my family plan

Yes, you can put your T Mobile SIM card in the new Sidekick 3 and be able to use the phone and most of it's functions. If you don't already have WEB/data functions with your current plan you won't be able to do any WEB surfing until you give T Mobile the IMEI number on the Sidekick3. Now you'll probably be able to access the "T Zones" WEB portal T Mobile has setup but that might be it. Your best bet is to call up Customer Care and tell them what you're looking to do. T Mobile has in my opinion has the best tech support. They've helped me setup a number of UNLOCKED phones I've purchased from eBay and abroad.
