I was a Cub/Boy Scout. I wanted to do it when I was younger because a lot of my friends were in it. Then as I got older I started playing a lot of sports. By the time I was in the 7th grade I wanted to quit because I had no time for it and most of the kids were weird. My Dad thought it was great for college and we both loved to camp. But by the time I got into high school sports consumed my life and I gave it up. But it's nothing like military school. Most of the kids in boy scouts are soft and there isn't a lot of disipline. Football practice is more like military school.

Hey, it's a GREAT family organization. I enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader, then my husband enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader, and my son had a really good time, as well as the whole family enjoyed themselves on the different outings and functions they have. I am very pro for all scouting programs, girl scouts too.

When I was young the Boy Scouts was a great organization. We learned about all kinds of things to do with the outdoors. They are still a great organization, you just only hear the bad because they won't allow gays to be troop leaders because they care about the values of their members.

i was a boy scout as a kid. all i remember is like pinewood derby and camping out. oh and selling that damn popcorn.

i think it helps make boys more responsible and polite, but i think that's about all - the modern organization is pretty low-key.
