it's not that i need it, gotta have it, i just dont feel like myself now and im afraid that i MAY be in the starting stages of dependency. it's not that i want it like a cigarette, it's like i want it to make me not irritable or figity. you get it? but im not going to take it at all tomorrow and when i start gettin really figity, then i will take 1/2. is that right?

Most of the time a dependency is shown by a show of physical symptoms of the body suffering from a lack of the chemical, sometimes irritable and figity is among them. I have perscribed loratab and been perscribed in before for dental reasons. I suggest if you do not take them and you are not overcome by severe paid either stop taking them or decrease the dose. Cut the dose in half if need by until you are both no longer in pain and no longer on the meds. If you suspect you are becomign addicted you most likely are. Also Motrin is not a pain killer it is an anti-inflammatory that requires approximatly 4-5 days of taking it on schedule before it begins to work effectivly so if you are taking it for pain it will not work, you must take it as ordered consistantly or it will be no effect. Good luck and please be safe.

I used to work as a Registered Nurse for 22 years. I also had a wisdom tooth removed and had a root canal during the past 2 years. I strongly suspect that after 2 weeks you no longer need the Loratabs for pain and can switch to Motrin.

militarywicc, also known as Cpl. Rush is wrong about Motrin. It is an anti-inflamatory and it does take 2 to three days for that effect to occur but it is also a really good pain killer and you can notice some relief after an hour.

It's hard for me to believe that you have developed any dependence on this medication after only 2 weeks. However, getting figity and irritable when you haven't taken the medicine is one of the signs of beginning dependence. These symptoms can also be caused by stress from worrying about being addicted.

In either case you can get through this by only taking 1/2 the pill and then going longer between the pills. This should only take 2 to 3 days.

I used to work as a Registered Nurse but haven't for 6 years. My drug book is from 2001. I couldn't find loratabs in it but did find lortabs in it. Lortabs contain 10 mg of hydrocodone, (a narcotic)
and 500 mg of acetaminophen (Tylenol). You should be able to look on your pill bottle to see if this is the same as yours. If it isn't
on the bottle you can call your pharmacist.

Bottom line is, any time you ever have concerns about any medicine that is prescribed for you, you should notify the doctor or dentist that prescribed it. They are the ones that have specific answers for you as they know both you and the medicine you are taking. I know some things about medicine but not as much as a doctor. Also, I don't know you.

I hope this has helped and also eased your mind.

Call your doctor.
Or take 1/2 a pill and then take it 1/2 as often and then throw the rest away.
It takes longer than 2 weeks to be addicted. I think you are over thinking this.....You may just be crabby!

Stop and switch to Motrin... you can develop a dependence on them. Congratulations for recognizing it.
