my plant has sort of heart shaped leaves that are green and pink. it is labeled as tropical foliage, grown in canada, and needs partial sun.

Sounds like it might be Caladium. These are tropical grown for striking foliage. The size of the heart-shaped leaves may vary from 6 inches to 2 feet in length. The colors vary from green and white, green and red, white with red, lavender, pink. They like a warm and moist atmosphere. Go here and scroll down for pictures. http://www.botany.com/caladium.htm

take a leaf down to a place that sells plants and have them identify it
