As grey horses age they become lighter and eventually turn white although they may still sometimes have flecks of grey on their bodies, darker points on their ears, muzzles, legs and around their eyes, or even maintain a grey mane and tail. Technically they're still considered grey (especially if they're a registered horse - that's what the registration papers show) but they're still white.
