Lets go back a long, long way, we all are from Africa, my ancestors originated in Africa and migrated north. The environment changed them to adapt to their new surroundings. Since we all can breed and share the same D.N.A we still are one people, the only difference is on the surface and the person that judges people on that alone should they not be considered superficial? Just because white people are born in Africa shouldn't they be entitled to call their self African?

You're children can say their mom is South African and their dad is American. They are now American, or if they retain the accent and culture, South African. It is a misnomer to say they are African American, because that means black Americans who originally were from Africa a long time ago. People who have moved here from Africa recently, would probably not call themselves African American even. It has a more historical application than it does to recent immigrants from Africa.

That just sounds confusing. Are you a black South African or a white South African? Is their father a black or white American? Terms like "African American" are just politically correct ways to refer to black people. So if your kids have "white" skin, they are not African American. If they are from the *country* of South Africa, then I guess they'd be South African American. It would be country-specific. Immigrants from Africa call themselves Kenyan-American, or Nigerian-American... not African American.

some carry out a little do no longer its through version and you advise considered necessary-West Africans the place their ancestors customarily got here from. thinking just about all African human beings are a mixture of assorted considered necessary-West African ethnicities with an excellent share even having a non considered necessary-West African admixture inclusive of ecu and North American there'll be adjustments. yet the two can look comparable. Somalians at the instant are not Arabs nor are Ethiopians or Saharan & North-East African black populations, some are Afro Arab that's largely arabanized (culturally) black Africans for hundreds of years like how Black human beings are human beings yet nonetheless black.

You are African in the same sense that I am American. I was born in the United States, but my ancestors are from elsewhere. You were born in South Africa, but I imagine that your ancestors came from somewhere besides Africa. So, in a sense, your children ARE African-American, but not in the same way as people with black skin.

I don't know that it's fair but you have to admit that given that most people who describe themselves as African American are black, having someone white call themselves African American is very unusual.

I don't know that it's fair or unfair but you have to admit, it's not what people normally think of as African American. I guess the people who coined this PC term never thought of this scenario, huh?

I don't think they're laughing AT you, just chuckling over this seeming irony. Just laugh WITH them! And teach your kids to do the same. You don't want them to feel like it's a burden to them to be who they are!

NO. I don't think it is fair to laugh at you or your children.

I am sure the day you met your husband you did not set out to meat a "white" man. Love just happens.

Your children do not deserve to be to be laughed at. People can be both ignorant and cruel.

Love is color blind. And people should be too. I know that it is hard to ignore people when they laugh at you. But the only things that are important are that you, and your children are happy, healthy, and you love each other.

How can you be from africa and not know that blacks are intensely and violently racist toward whites?

Although it is FAR better here in the US than anywhere in africa, it is still an intense problem here. That problem is easily solved by moving into the interior of the country and away from certain specific areas where racists like to live (ie certain cities). Outside of those small, specific, quite frankly dangerous, areas, people are normal and you will have zero problems.

Your children are more African American than these six to tenth generation American blacks. A generation is considered Thiry years.
