There are too many good websites to recommend. A Yahoo search for "log home plans" (include the quotation marks) yields 372,000 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure you will quickly find all of the information you seek.

Good luck with your log cabin project.

My Dad built ours with hand hewn logs. 2 field stone fireplaces, one is a charcoal pit. Yellow birch furniture sit on red oak flooring. The mica found in rocks in the area is the face of the fireplace. The kitchen cupboards are designed from slab wood. Every log has a high polyeurthane finish intensified by flood lighting. The chandalyre (spelled wrong) is from an old wooden wagon wheel. It is heated with an ashley woodstove/and or firplace. The loft overlooks the living area and is furnished with hand hewn log bedroom furniture. The whole cabin faces the Turtle Flambeau Flowage in Northern Wi.

Go to a large bookstore and go through the magazine section in the 'house and garden' magazines. There are at least five or six publications devoted exclusively to log home design. Take some home and pour over them!

Ultra-modern log home - why not? (I think Abraham Lincoln lived in one of those!)

Have yourself tested for Von Williabrands Disease, a genetic free bleeding disease - actually more of a syndrome - and the most mild type of Hemophilia (the only one women get). 5% of the population has it and they don't know until oddities like this occur. I have it, and have dealt with what I call "hell days" for my entire life. "Hell days" are the period days with clots like you describe, and no tampon nor pad can contain them. It worsened during menopause (yes, worsened) - and I wear black pants ALL THE TIME, just in case. LOL, there are worse things, but it is a simple test, and I heartily recommend it.
