My parents paid $95,000 to join the social elite of my city, Atlanta. I know my dad clearly has the money, but why would you pay that much to golf (socially)? It's so stupid. The kids there are so stuck up. Not to be snobbish, but I'm probably the richest of all of them, and I NEVER talk about money or anything.

I just want to be a normal kid and not have to join all these stupid groups. It's the same routine EVERY time.

Is there anyone out there that has any advice. These people are so stuck up, and my parents are in there with him.

I just want to be normal.

ok point number one............You ARE NOT the richest kid there! Your parents are rich! Not You!!! They have worked and earned the money and have the right to spend it as they want.

Point number two - you DO talk about money! You said you are the richest kid there.

You seem to call everyone associated with you and your parents stupid or stuck up. This indicates that you feel inferior or nervous around them.

My suggestion would be to............ Relax.........Have fun......don't judge these people because of the social groups they are associated with. Get to know them and i think you will find others your age who have the same feelings. When you get older you may see the benefits in what your parents worked hard to achieve for themselves and you given the opportunity to participate.

Failing that........... How about looking around at the homeless and/or financially broke people out there with kids who get the love and admiration of their children simply because the parents are there.

And have you talked to your parents about some alternative recreational options for yourself? I am not sure what you are interested in but guess what............ALMOST EVERYONE IS NORMAL!!! You just have to loose the attitude and seek out that part of whoever you are with!

Now stop whining when kids are starving, stressed because of no decent clothes for upcoming school year, and worried about the family farm being able to generate enough for them to make it through another season without loosing everything their families have worked for over generations!!

I don't think you're bragging. I see your point. Here's the thing. If you want to be normal, you will. You won't always have to live the life your parents are mapping out. Right now while you are their child, you are being exposed to it. If you enjoyed it, you'd keep right on hanging out there like they are. But if you are repulsed by it, you'll forge a different plan for your life when it's your chance to make your own decisions. Just bide your time. It's like my dad used to tell me when I complained about bad bosses. You learn something from every boss you have. Sometimes you learn what kind of boss you want to be someday, and sometimes you learn what kind of boss you never want to be. You are learning something from your parents and from these country club folks. It's just that you might be learning what kind of person you never want to grow up to be.

I am with you I do not like stuck ups. The only advice I could give you is to talk to your dad. Never start this conversation if you or your dad are mad. Being in a positive mood will make you and your dad happy. This is when you should start the conversation.

You do realize that you are on here bragging, don't you? By doing so you proclaim yourself to be of the same ilk as the ones you are naming as stupid and stuck-up.

just tell your parents the way that you feel and be honest with them, tell them what you really think that they should not be paying to be in this social thing . The most important thing is the Family! I hope that help!!!
