This summer I left for vacation...when I came back a month later my house had been taken over by ITSY BITSY TINY WEINIE little ants. They have not gotten into any food as everything is sealed except for the dry cat food that sits out. They have brought dirt into my kitchen and started building little mounds between the wall and my trashcan! They are also in my bed (I don't eat in bed) and the little buggers bite/sting :( I sprayed my bed down w/vinegar water last night..but still was stung several times. They are also living in my dirty clothes basket.

What is attracting them? Why are they IN MY HOUSE???

I bought some RAID today....but I just want to know what's going on so I can prevent this in the future.

That's what ants do.

After you spray the Raid, wash everything (surfaces, floors, baseboards...EVERYTHING) with bleach and water.

I am having the exact same problem [i live in northern kentucky] except they are taking over the OUTSIDE of my house! I came home one day and they were COVERING my front door and the casing around it.

I figure its best to find out where the heck they are coming from, trace it all the way back to the main place and fill the mound with either bleach or water.

While they are in your house, I would say call an exterminator immediately and get your house air-sealed and "bombed". This will kill all of the living ants, and the person should give you a small can of ant-killer that will kill those who have not hatched yet.

I would also advise not sleeping in your bed, they'll get into your hair and thats something you dont want to think about, im itching now just thinking about it... -shudder-.
Sleep on the couch or somewhere far away from your bed and wherever they are entering.

you need to use a spray called Home Defense and spray the whole perimeter of your house. You can buy a gallon of it at the home depot. It lasts for a long time, six months or something.Raid will only temporarly kill the ants.

We have the same problem, where we live it hasn't rained for several months and the moisture is bringing them in. The bathroom is where they have set up camp here, so when you find a sure fire way to get rid of them let me know. Good luck !

Could be they are just eating, but it depends in which part of the country you live. I have lived in several states and the ant problem was different, different types of ants.

It's summer time. The ants decide to make themselves at home..in your home. Pretty much since they can't live in the sun

Your're so sweet! That's why they are taking over...but on the safe side..if you can't get rid of them yourself you can go to Lowes..Menards..and get the outside perimeter spray to put around the house. Good luck!
