It is scary how many people still think Saddam was behind 9/11.

I'm increasingly concerned that a majority of Americans not only don't know why we're in Iraq - I'm truly afraid they don't care. The shocking result of the last presidential election and the apathy surrounding it was a terrible blow - it started to feel like just one more thing on the growing list of (in my opinion) major world disasters we try to ignore. We don't seem to care that in the wake of our great country's terrible losses, we started a war with the wrong country based on lies - scary lies about "weapons of mass destruction" that didn't exist. We knew they didn't exist, as did the rest of the world - but our children have been dying there - in the wrong country - ever since. It's frightening to me because in the wake of 9/11 our priorities seemed crystal clear to me - find and destroy the terrorists who hurt us so terribly, so shockingly effectively. And then please gather our most brilliant minds - people who can best figure out how we can be safer from such single-minded hate, and do whatever they say - immediately, sparing no expense or effort - and maybe then we might begin not only to feel, but to actually be stronger and safer.

But we just aren't that concerned that we've lost the respect of the rest of the world. We don't even seem to care, indeed seem only recently to even grasp the fact that the bad people we didn't even elect are obscenely amoral, unlawful, embarrassingly stupid and I can't help it, I just have to say it again - unelected. Thank goodness Iraq is becoming a democracy - maybe someday we can try it too! But anyway, these slimy creeps we didn't elect continue their acts of calculated self-interest.

I believe we can do better, and I really hope we haven't retreated into our own self-interests - we need to do better.

If anyone EVER believed that we went to Iraq in response to 9-11, they are VERY naive. Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11 because everyone knows that al-Quida was behind 9-11 and Saddam did not like al-Quida much. They were more of a threat to his power than America was. Bush just did Osama a big favor by invading Iraq. As soon as we're out of there, there will be an extreme muslim fundamentalist in power in Iraq that will made Saddam Hussein look like a boy scout.

I don't. Never did. We're in Iraq because Saddam made it look like he still had WMDs and was trying to get more.

However, Iraq is part of the overall effort to rid the world of terrorists. Saddam also supported a number of terror organizations.

It's not all about 9/11. That was just the start of the war on global terrorist organizations.

I never did. Had Saddam Hussein been involved in 9/11 we would have known it was his op from the start. The kind of megalomaniac he is, he would have demanded full control over an operation like 9/11. He's very much in the Josef Stalin model as a dictator, when he hots you, he wants you to know it was him, and Fear him for it.

Al Queda was behind 9/11 attack.
Saddam was a big supporter of terrorists networks.
Saddam was developing WMD.
WMD could've gotten into the hands of terrorists.
Bush didn't and couldn't take a chance, risking another 9/11.
That's why we removed Saddam out of his power.

Indirectly yes. Iraq will be the launch-point against other terrorists countries (Iran and Syria). GW has decided to take terrorism seriously, unlike previous presidents, because of 9/11, and stop their goal of world domination. Have you seen the news, and how many countries they are trying to take over ? Now they have booted out the war-lords in Somalia and taken over. We will have to go back there, and do it right this next time !

Yes, sadly many people still believe that we are in Iraq because of 9/11. It is really sad at how they don't listen to the truth. vVery sad. But the only consolation is that maybe Democrats will take over in November, and get us on the right track.

No Saddam wasn't behind it Asama Bin Ladin was. We went to Iraq to take down Saddam, fix Iraq, and find the weapons of mass destrution.

9/11 set the President off. We've been attacked before and
no president did anything about it (like, oh, that's okay) but
this President saw the handwriting on the wall that we're
gonna be dealing with terrorists now and if we don't start
fighting back over there, they'll soon be fighting us over here.
Bush liking war is a farce......no one likes war. He wishes it
wasn't happening right now, but if not Bush to fight against the
terrorists wherever they are, then who? when? Want them
over here terrorizing you? They may be here terrorizing us
or bombing us if the Democrats (do-nothing) get back into office.

15 out of the 19 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia. Bush did not want to give up the capital like Sr.did, just had to wait for a Pearl Harbor event to get the sheeple behind him.
