You have 72 hours to accept the vehicle. Immediately call your bank and cancel payment on that check. Take it back and park it where you bought it. Do not accept the vehicle, you have rights as a consumer, and 20 miles before a major breakdown is grounds for pulling out of a contract. Most used dealers offer at least a 3 month, 3,000 mile warranty. But most importantly, CANCEL THAT PAYMENT, and take it back where you bought it from. They can repair it or resell it, but with no cancelled check, as far as the law goes, your father was just on a test drive.

Wont start? Will start but dies? Your description is a little vague but I would start by putting a gallon or 2 of gas in it, to make sure it is not out of gas. Gas guages are not always correct. Next it may need a jump start if it wont turn over. If it does turn over but will not continue to run you may want to check the fuel pump. Basically it could be a lot of things, but we need to know a few more details about the problem to help you find the exact problem.
If he can take it back, I would recommend it. It sounds like a lemon. If he can find a used toyota, they are the best cars. I have an 03 neon, and it is a piece of crap.

i think he should call the place where he bought it at,,and ask them to help fix it,,sounds like they kind of took advantage of him,,on this deal,,they probably knew he needed a car bad,,and gave him the worst one they have,,this may not actually be what happened,,but it sure does sound like it,,doesn't it,,any way, maybe you can help him get is straightened out,,sounds like he needs some help at this point,,i hope you get it took care of.
