Well it all depends on what culture you are from or that you celebrate. Most people don't consider 13 to be a "special birthday" but it does signify that you are officially a "teen". To me, turning 13 was big for me because my mom would not allow me to wear nailpolish until my 13th birthday.

I don't know is it? I mean, mine wasn't! My 13 was celebrated in a room with half of the floor put in, and I had 13 cupcakes with a candle in each of them. And then, my dad was being a total jerk, so yeah. But I think every birthday should be special, I mean like, you made it through another year in this crazy world! Good Job.

Not as big as 16. I'd say the biggest birthdays are 16, 9/8/10 (stay home by yourself), 13..., and maybe two.

yes, any reason to celebrate is a reason to make a big deal. Like hey I have to celebrate more because I'm turning 10 this year... 13 this one.. 16 today...18 allready... and 21 each year you try to make it a little bit fancier than the last.

I'm the mother of a 13yr old and I can tell u that we thought it was a big deal. We came up w/a list of choices for his big day and let him pick which one he wanted to do and what gift to go w/it.
He chose a brand new set of golf clubs and a day golfing w/Dad @ an upscale golf course. He didn't want a big party.

I think so. You're entering a new stage of your life -- going from child to teenager. It's a rite of passage, to be sure, so if your 13th birthday is coming up, celebrate and enjoy! I'll bet there's a lot of people who would love to be 13 again. Happy birthday, dear!

Not really, the big one in the teen years is 16 because it's that magic number that allows you to drive (in most states).
