Ok, at the begining of March I wrote 2 checks to a group for a camping trip and tshirts. the trip was rescheduled 2 times. After the second cancellation we had to back out of the trip with the understanding we would get our money back. End of April, beginning of May they still had not cashed my checks.I asked for them back considering they were gonna give us money back anyways, they said no, Ok no big deal,I told them to cash the checks that week or they would bounce. I only put money in that account during the school year, and they were told that They cashed the checks the week of July 18th.Caused my account to go into overdraft. They waited 5 MONTHS to cash 2 checks totalling 47.00.overdraft fees of 68.00. They dont feel they should have to pay me the overdraft fees back, even after they were told the money wouldnt be in that account after a certain date. They are sending me my 47.00, Do I keep fighting for the other 68.00 or drop it? I didnt do stop payment cause it was 25 per check

I do agree that the money should have been left in there, I am not gonna argue that.. But they knew our financial hardships and were told it wouldnt be in there after a certain date... I explained to them what that account was used for.... I think I am more concerned about it being 5 months to cash a check, We are talking about a Cub Scout Pack.. not a business.

i just spoke to the bank.. they had my account set up incorretly the checks should have bounced.. (Like I told the Pack they would).. They may wave 1 of the 34 dollar over draft fees... should I try to get the other 34 from the pack? We are talking about a 1 income family who lives paycheck to paycheck

it is not worth it. your time is worth more than the 68.00. but also, i think the right thing would have been for you to keep 47.00 in that account, knowing that those checks were out there, and could be cashed, it seems reasonable that you would keep that money in there. even though they are the ones that cancelled the trips and you told them to cash the checks sooner, i fell like it was your responsibility to cover checks that you have written and you have not gotten back. i agree that if they were competent or nice, they would have done a better job, but i believe we should all take responsibility for ourselves, if we all did, the world would be a better place. we all waste so much time and cause so much hatred by blaming everyone else for our troubles. i already understand that you only keep money inthere during the school year, and the rest of what you said.
