Yes, as long as the wheel is functioning properly and you give him a handful of cotton balls to make a nest. I would also get a very small food dish (because there won't be room for a big one-just make sure to refill it everyday) that is ceramic or some other heavy material so he doesn't move it around (where it might end up blocking his wheel or waterbottle or something) If i'm not mistaken, there is a place to connect a tube or tubes. If you have any tubes, I would put some on there for a little extra something to do and space to explore. One more thing, hamsters sleep during the day and are active at night. Try to keep his cage in a quiet, relatively cool area (between 65 and 75 degrees F) during the day in particular since thats when he'll want to sleep. At night when he is active, take him out and let him run around in one of those balls or lay down some newspaper on a couch or bed and let him run around a bit (hamsters have a pretty good height perception and generally will not jump from a bed or sofa to the ground, and given beds and sofas usually don't have too many hazardous materials on them-like wires, outlets, etc they make for a safe place to let your little guy stretch his legs and explore-of course, its still a good idea to keep an eye on him!) You can take the cage outside or hold him in your hand outside, as i'm sure he'll enjoy the fresh air! You can even let him run around on a picnic table (as long as there isn't any other, larger animals around and you're watching him) he might really enjoy this-he'll get lots of fresh air and he might even run into an ant or two-which, I assure you, will likely make his day, as hamsters in the wild eat insects to provide protein for their diets. Well, hope that helps a bit. If I were you, i'd clean out the cage right before you leave. Put fresh woodchips in, a handful of cotton balls, fresh food and fresh water-and then all you have to do is refill his food everyday and his water whenever it gets low and you won't have to clean the whole cage again until you get back! Well, hope that helps a bit. You two have a great trip!

Seen your other question and had to come check it out. I remember reading your question (I think) but I don't know what the Critter Trail Mini 2 is, or what size it is, so I didn't feel qualified to answer your question. But I am here now, so I will share with you something.

I used to smuggle hamsters on plane flights with me, so where there is a will there is a way. I don't recommend the aquarium (glass), it could break and that could endanger your hamster and/or leave him without an enclosure.

Get a medium sized Rubbermaid container, take the lid and cut the center out, attach a strong screen wire where the center was. I have kept pet rats in these and haven't had any escapes, by them chewing out. The only problem with them is that air doesn't circulate well in these. If you could aim a small fan towards the inside of the cage that should take care of circulation.

May you and your pet have fun camping.

I don't think you should put any animal in that cage. Get a 10 gallon aquarium. I had a hamster who tried to chew on the bars, got his teeth stuck and died. I wouldn't even put a hamster in that to travel. And besides, a 10 gallon aquarium is alot cheaper. you would just have to get a cover and a water bottle.

It's not going to be comfortable for him, no. It would be better to find someone to look after your hamster while you are away since the climate will likely not be suited to the little guy either.

If it has a wheel for him to exercise in, then it should be fine for short trips.
