I have a 1983 Yamaha adventure 1200 series and I need the specks on the charging system, the battery won't stay charged. Battery is good but loses it's charge

I would make sure there is not a broken wire in the system going to the charging ring and regualtor by hooking up a continuity tester,if no wires are broken or shorted then your problem is the charging ring or the voltage regulator.I would suggest to change them both,if one is still good won't be long before it goes as well,good luck

Aren't you talking about the Yamaha Venture?? I used to have one of them, It was an 83 model.. I kept having problem with that and My hydraulic clutch had a leak also, never found out where that was.. I sold it though to buy a yamaha roadstar..

You spend thousands of dollars on a motorcycle. You want to do your own maintenance. Purchase a $30 dollar shop manual. You'll never have to ask questions, hoping someone that thinks they know what they're talking about, will give you a correct answer.
