A good housewife and mother is a lost treasure in America. It is a loss of parenting that has the whole world all screwed up. Families are critical to everything that happens on Earth.

Your question is funny. Because when you say "...or a woman to go to work.." you are implying that cooking and cleaning at home is not work. This is a misconception most people have, that house chores are not work but some strange "leisure activity" women do at home. But this is not casual. This idea was implanted and has been reinforced through time in order to exploit people. In the dawn of the industrial revolution, If house work would have been recognized as such, then men would have had to have better salaries in order to cover for the cost or social reproductive activities (housework, caring for children, running errands, etc). So underneath the concept, lies the economic interest to obtain the profits from the worker's labor and that of his wife at home. Therefore, two workers for the price of one, one at the factory and one at home, both ensuring that production goes on. Fortunuately some things have changed and then came unions and modern legislation. Social practices and beliefs, unfortunately have not changed and this is what makes so many people today still think that it is a matter of "likes" or "dislikes" in men or women. It is not an issue of voluntary choice. Many times it has to do with necessity in each family situation where only one of the spouse's salary is simply not enough to support the household.

A home - to a man - resembles a castle that is being run by a beautiful queen that waits for her king. The man needs a woman that can provide him with genuine love and attention, and this is hardly provided by a working woman.
Furthermore, a man knows that his woman has the greatest and most effective job in the whole world, which is taking care of the children, and therefore raising the next generation with knowledge and awareness.
That is why men prefer women to stay home, not necessarily to cook and clean, but to take care of their castle while he is not there ;)

I do all the cooking for my fiance and I , I actually do most of the cleaning too, I guseese i wanna be able to know i can eat a chip or something if it falls on the floor. I think the men and woman should share the duties.. the other day I cooked and didnt feel like doing the dishes so I asked her and she said yes with a glad heart.

This is not the matter of liking or not liking.
Men yesterday and men today may think differently. Men in various societies and in various levels of education may think differently. In fact, no man thinks like any other man, even they may say that they fully agree with each other on this thing or that thing.
Every healthy couple have the joint responsibility to wisely build a happy, prosperous and progressive family. By tradition, it seems favorable for the man to earn the bread and the woman to educate the child. Nowadays societies change quickly and tragically, the couple are required to get a proper education to share the family tasks justly and intelligently.
The children brought up in such progressive families will become real builders of an ever-advancing civilization for mankind.

Depends on what makes the lady happy. I want the woman I love to be happy whether that means staying at home with the babies and taking care of the house or holding down a meaningful and important job. I would support her whichever she chooses. And I'll do all I can to take up the slack! I can cook and clean and do laundry and shop and change diapers with the best of them.

i'm a guy and I would want my wife to stay at home, not because I'm trying to be mean, but I just want the kids to have their mother- at least until they become teenagers. Then as long as they have someone to give them rides to their activities, because a lot of that will determine whether or not they will be successful in life. It's all about the kids. I don't care if my wife works from home, or if she makes a lot of money. I want her to follow her dreams just as much as she does. But the kids should always come first, because they are the future. And I'm not against taking care of the kids myself, if I have time, but studies have shown that children need that special touch that they can get only from their mother, and besides, I personally am not very good with little kids. I just don't know what to do.

I guess it would depend on the man. Some men want a woman to stay at home and take care of the home and the kids. But most times in today society both the man and the woman have to work in order to be able to be finacally secure.

Only if they're Neanderthal("The kitchen and the bedroom, Florida"!-James Evans from Good Times). Most men appreciate that women can go to work AND maintain a home. But it's a team effort, though.

Men are never satisfied! If you stay at home, they usually think that you just sit around all day and do nothing. And if you work, then you just have to cook and clean when you get home. Lose-lose situation if you ask me. I'd rather just be single most days.
