i ask this along with the others.....if we have a destiny, then should hitler be sent to hell for what he was born to do. his destiny was to do what he did so that the ripple effect would take over and everything that has happened since did. or did he make his own choices, and so do we all, with no plan or purpose, we are all just roaming the planet and occassionally bump into eachother. anything that looks like destiny is just coincidence?

We have only that destiny or plan that we make for ourselves. To claim that some deity has already laid out our future for us is to say that we are not sovereign individuals, but mere automatons tricked into believing we have free will. The destiny we create for ourselves is the only one that can possibly have any real meaning.

I think we all have a purpose for our lives. There is a path that we are meant to follow but what happens is that it's up to us to get there. God gives us a purpose but we need to be able to reach it. Take the Hitler example, his purpose may have been X. Where he went wrong was with the choices he made while he was reaching that purpose. He decided to be racist and fascist and chose to become a leader through those means. He did not accomplish X because he strayed and never returned to the path he might have been on. I don't know if I'm making sense, but basically it boils down to the fact that it's up to us to understand what our purpose is and to do whatever is necessary to reach it. It's not destiny because it won't take place if we make the wrong choices, it's more like a plan.

Sometimes we plan for our lives sometimes the plan goes well and sometimes it does not. True we have to live each day and face the different challenges of our lives as we journey, however in making this destiny we have choices and we have to make a decision for that choice we make and if it is for the good or bad we have to face the consequence of it. But what is important is we stand to what we believe in.

I believe that I have a destiny to do some very specific things. Many other people also have a destiny, perhaps everyone, however, I don't think that our destiny takes away our free will.
