Sometimes they can determine sex by sonogram at week 13. SOmetimes they can't. In any case if you really want to know, ask the doctor if he could do amino. That can be done at 16 weeks.

I wouldn't do it if I were you... When my brother was in college, he took some class, and the teachers told the students all about those tests.
They wouldn't effect you that much (except for radiation), but the affects might be noticeable in your child. Also, your grand-children could be very affected by them (especially if your child will take them too).
Most are in the mind (maybe a little slow), cancer, some deformation.
What these tests do is open your DNA strand to see whats inside (to see the gender) and then close it up. (They don't nessecary need to take a DNA stand from the baby to check it... )
That is exactly what your body does when your baby is forming. It opens the DNA, checks what it needs, closes it, and forms that organ. Then it starts all over.
But if, for example, the baby's arms were formed at the time the DNA was opened. That data was exposed and your body thinks that it is done with the arms. Its goes on to the next step without finishing the arms.
But what happens when you check the baby several times? How deformed could the baby be?
Did you notice that some celebrities don't know if they will have a boy or girl until the baby is born? I think they know all this...

I found out about my baby boy at 16 weeks. I believe 16-20 weeks is the soonest.
