I know it turns into a queen, but does it have more power than a regular queen?

No, the new piece does not have more power than a regular similar piece. When the pawn reaches the other side of the board, you have the option of turning it into any piece you like (except for a king, or another pawn). This is called 'pawn promotion'.

However, the new piece behaves the same way as the type of piece it has become. People often choose the queen because it is the strongest piece, since it has the most options when it comes to ability to move.

To clear up a possible point of confusion, a pawn which reaches the 8th rank ('other end of the board') can become a Queen, Rook, Bishop or Knight of your own color...

But... you are NOT limited to merely replacing a piece that was previously captured. It can become a Queen, even if you still have your original Queen...same with becoming a Rook, Bishop or Knight. So you can have two (or more) Queens on the board, three or more Rooks, Bishops or Knights, etc...

It's theoretically possible to have up to NINE Queens of one color on the board at the same time, IF you can get all eight of your pawns to the last row (rank), and still manage to avoid the capture of your original Queen.

It does not necessarily turn into a queen...any piece that has been captured by the opponent may replace the pawn...it could be a queen, a knight, a bishop...but it does not have any extra power.

No, it does everything a regular queen does. By the way, the little guy is called a pawn.
