That's actually quite a popular choice. I actually knew a couple that went to my church who gave both their children their exact given names but called them different names. The daughter got the mother's name and the son got the father's name. I kinda thought it was like a show dog's name (where their name is Greenwin Prescott Manor Stephenson but then their name is Brinkley or whatever).

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of naming anyone after anyone else. Each person is an individual and should be named as such. It's nice that you might want to remember a family member or someone else that might be significant in your life but that can be done in so many other ways. Your kids will thank you that they were not named after someone else. BTW, I feel this way because my grandmother and my mother were given the same name (and my mother hated it.) She liked the tradtion but didn't like the name so she modified it a little before she gave it to me. Their name was Evelyn and so I got Heather-Lynn. I have grown to love my name but for years I hated it as well.

Why would you name your child after yourself? It gets confusing when someone calls for your daughter on the phone when they are 16, 17, 18 etc. That gets confusing. Did you want the 17 year old or the 45 year old???? My thought is it would be easier to name them after your mother or your sister or your aunt. Just a thought.

Sure - just keep in mind that in those cases, the child is rarely called by the actual name they are given in order to avoid confusion (i.e they usually end up going by junior, or by their middle name). Tamara is a beautiful name.

You should put your baby up for adoption because with all the love you have for yourself, unfortunately your baby is going to suffer from emotional neglect and possibly a jealous mother.

I feel it's very prideful to name kids after yourself.
There are lots of good names-
pick one that references the family if you like but make it original.

an intriguing question.. and I toyed with idea of naming my first child after me.. then decided against it.. In my opinion, if you have more than one child, the one named after you will always be considered the favorite by his/her siblings.. and why George Foreman named all his children George.. so he wouldn't show favoritism, amongst other 'reasons'

Not saying don't do it.. but keep in mind if you have more children how it might play in the future..

It's your decision, of course.

Your name, a middle name, or a family name can be given to your child. Or change it a bit. For James, maybe Jayme, or for Dana, maybe Daniel.

Yeah, sure. Make your baby just like you. Everyone wants to be JUST like you. We are all so jealous of you. Because your name is Tamara. Oh, I just can't take it anymore. Tomorrow I'm gonna change my name to Tamara.
