The theaters are dominated by crap these days. However, there are some fairly good movies out right now:
Action: Stick with Miami vice. It is a bit over complicated for a movie with no mind bending plot, but it is a great movie in terms of action and "coolness".
Comedy: Go with Accepted and the ballad of Rickey bobby. None of them are super great, but they will probably make you laugh.
