I'm living in one of the "eastern country". I do not think culture has much to do with online shopping.

China's online users has leap frogged since the day Internet concept was introduced. There are over 1billion online users in this country now. The online vendors are lauging their ways to the banks as we speak.

Online shopping SECURITY is the main worries of most online shoppers. This is the main reason that many are still shy from this mode of transaction.

Another reason (less important) is the eligibility of having a credit card. Chinese likes to buy with cash. That's why the online shopping are selling based on COD (cash on delivery) method.
