I LOVE banana splits. Slice a banana, put it in a long bowl, put ice cream of different flavors on the banana slices, add different flavored toppings, some whipped cream and some nuts.. YUMMY

Ah, yes, the banana split! I begin by putting three scoops of French vanilla frozen custard into a boat shaped bowl. Along each side I place a half of a perfectly ripened banana. If the banana is not ripe, I stop here and eat the frozen custard plain. Over this I pour melted hot fudge. Then I sprinkle the whole thing with chopped roasted peanuts and top it with real whipped cream squeezed from a pastry bag. On top of each scoop of custard goes a maraschino cherry. That's how I do it.

I haven't had one in a long time. Really, I think they're too messy. But I made some banana splits and jr. banana splits when I worked at Sonic. At Sonic, we put the pinapple and strawberry on the left and right and choclate in the middle with the bananas on the side with cool whip in the four corners of the ice cream with a cherry on top in the middle of the split. And with the choclate caramel splits we just subsituted the pinapple and strawberry with choclate and caramel. But I would eat one if someone gave me one.

I love eating banana splits, but I buy mine most of the time from Dairy Land. If I make them, I split a banana in half and put several scoops of ice cream on it and then top that with hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, strawberries, whipped cream and a cherry on top. Ahhh sooo good.

I love banana splits although I probably eat only one a year because of weight concerns. When we make them, rather that get them from the ice cream parlor, we get a nice big dish. Then slice up a banana. Some in our family, prefer vanilla ice cream, and others prefer to use vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Put butterscotch or pineapple over the vanilla, chocolate syrup over the coffee and strawberries over the chocolate. Gotta go make one because this is too tempting!!!!

Slice a semi-ripe banana and place the two halves in a dish.

Sprinkle chopped pecans over the halves.

Put two scoops of natural vanilla bean ice cream over the halves.

Drizzle syrup (I prefer chocolate) over the ice cream.

Put whipping cream over the ice cream and syrup.

Drizzle cherry juice or cherries or both atop the whipped cream.

Sprinkle more pecans.

Eat !

Oh man! Do I!!!

1-Three scoops of vanilla ice cream.
2-Chocolate syrup on one scoop, butterscotch on the second scoop, fresh stawberries on the 3rd.
3-One banana, split in two, and nestled on each side of the ice cream scoops.
4-Then fresh whipped cream generously lathered on top of the ice cream scoops.
5-then sprinkle nuts, maybe some coconut over the whipped cream.
6-A marachino cherry on top of each scoop.

I like them. I leave off the pineapple and add caramel. Sometimes I also replace the strawberry with chocolate. I always add nuts. I never have whipped cream.
