Do you know any home remedies to get rid of them besides drinking lots of water. I have had three in the past year. The first one, an 8 mm stone, got me outpatient surgery (lithotripsy), and the second, a 5mm stone, sent me to the ER for half a day.

I think mine are the calcium type stones, but I don't want to cut out too much calcium because of ostioperosis. I have heard that stones are hereditary and they run on my fathers side. Thanks to anyone who answers and is trying to help me!!!!

keep lots of fluids in you and cranberry juice is also good. Kidney stones are extremely painful, I know. I have heard not to eat nuts and not to drink tea but those haven't really been confirmed to my knowledge. I know of the lithotripsy too. Just keep lots of fluids, i think that alot of people are just prone to them due to genetics or something. good luck

Celery seed tea... get celery seed from you grocery store, steep it in hot water and drink it (dont add sugar) it breaks up most forms of kidney stones painlessly. I had kidney stones and passed on the size of a peppercorn (yes I passed it!!!) now I am suseptable to them. I was told about celery seed tea after the first episode and when I got them again I drank the tea and it worked!! I dont think it works for every form of stone but it wont hurt to try.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

Did your urologist test the stones to see what they are made of? You have something in your diet that is causing them to have them that often. Flomax (a drug) will help you void them faster but still you need to have the stones tested.

there r 2 different types: basic and acidic. Depending on the type you have, or produce.. you need to alter your diet to produce a different urine stream..ck with a local urologist's R.N. or dietician for a dietary consult
