First, mice are dirt cheap. If you are real poor you might search the local office supply stores for a FREE mouse because of instant rebate. Office Max and Office Depot have one every month or so.

If you REALLY must fix this mouse because you live in the middle of no where, here is what you do:

Locate the screws on the under side of the mouse. Usually hidden under some labels (at least one screw is). Remove the screws and the top half will swing up and away. The circuit board, ball, rollers, etc stay with the bottom half. Locate the rollers and remove the lint and crap from the mouse. The little shafts will have slotted wheels on them. Blow the junk out of the slots as well. The slotted wheel fits in an optical sensor. Make sure this is clean as well.

Well since i see your using a mouse with a ball, the ball relies on 2 rollers within the mouse to track movements, you should be able to see them if you remove the mouse. Sometimes these rollers get out of place and therefore dont let your mouse do what it is meant to do, moving around your screen. Try and make sure that these rollers are aligned and are moving correctly. ( one should be left/right the other should be top/bottom)
But in all honesty i would invest in an optical mouse which doesn't rely on moving parts for operation. I found some online for as little as $5 and im sure stores have then for around that amount also.

depends on what ur mouse is
turn it over
and on the bottom
if it has a ball
then take off the ring around it
and take the ball out
clean the stuff inside (they are little roller things, most likely covered in a string of dust and crap)

If your mouse is a laser or optical mouse then it has a light coming out of it
just wipe the lense

if it doesn't work
get a new mouse

Dont waste your time; buy a new OPTICAL mouse they are much better than the ones with the ball
