American Idol, you will only make it there if you are truly talented. If you just want to get famous and you don't think you have very good singing talent, it won't get you "discovered."

You need to be aggressive. Sing in a lot of places, even karaoke. Sing in church. Sing at weddings. Try to get tapped to sing the national anthem at a baseball or football game. Audition with bands, all the auditions you can stand. Audition in plays, speaking parts are good even without singing because they help your resume' and give you practice and public exposure. Make and send out tapes or CD's, send em to potential agents or talent scouts and music companies. If you can get a steady gig singing with a band at a club consider yourself very lucky, it is a paycheck and it too adds to your resume', but you gotta keep trying for exposure. Good luck!

yeah start looking around for companies to let you sing at their establishments and looking for talent shows and random singing gigs
