i know xoxoxo means hugs and kisses, but does the x mean kisses or hugs, or does the o mean kisses?

An "X" is a kiss and a "O" is a hug.
Think of X as a pucker and an O as your arms circling a loved one in a hug.

Why?
Well, a kiss goes on one particular spot, so it's like X marks the spot. The O would symbolize arms going around you in a hug.
