Hello,
You really need to contact your State Attorneys Generals Office. (In the blue pages of your phone book under State Government) Ask them what the Stat laws are regarding repossession. If you were behind in payments, even by just a few days they do have the right to pick up the vehicle, but you need to know what they are allowed to do.
1.Can the lien holder charge you for the repossession if you were not notified that they were going to pick it up beforehand?
2.Can they hold the truck until the whole loan is paid? (Accelerate the balance), or do they have to give it back once the balance owed is paid.
Sometimes the lien Company will let you put the balance on the end of the loan, but this is expensive.
Even states that have decent consumer rights still allow this sort of thing to happen if the vehicle is repossessed a second time, so check that, and keep up your payments.
Good luck.

My husband is a repo man and I asked him and he said that you need to contact the company you got the loan with but that does not mean you will get your vehicle back for sure. The repo company has to give you your personals though within 45 days and that includes your plates. You may have to pay a small fee for your stuff for the clean out and storage of personals.

they will send you a letter telling you that you will have to pay what you owe to get it back plus some other fees probably. The letter should have the contact number on it. If not contact the company

Probably the loan company...be prepared to pay up!! This will hurt your credit too, so fix this fast.

Make your back payments, make the current payment, paythe towing fee. that's about the only way you will ever see it again.
