A cycle is getting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. There have been a couple of hundred players who hit for the cycle, but only a few who ever hit a "natural" cycle: That is getting first a single, then a double, then a triple and then a home run in that order.

Carlos Guillen did it tonight against The devil rays.

He is the first Tiger to hit for the cycle since Damion Easly did against The Brewers in June 2001.

Guillen hit a
Triple Homerun
Single
and in his last at bat in the 8th
Double.

Batting for the cycle means hitting a single, a double, a triple, and a Home Run in a single game. They do not have to come in any specific order or in consecutive at bats. Just as long as they all happen within a one game.

Willie Mo Pena almost did this last night's Red Sox game. It means hitting in one game: a single, a double, a triple and a home run. They don't need to be in any order.
