It is wrong the way you reach this problem and it seems like paradox.
They didn't pay 9$ each.They had to pay 3x10$=30$.
Finally they paid 25$ and not 27$.That means that 5$ came back to them. 1$ for each Vet and 2$ for the bellboy.
So,we have:25+1+1+1+2=30

i agree, if u calculate,
then 25 $ went to the owner, 2 $ to the bellboy and 3$ were returned to the guests.
n if u see their contribution then each paid first 25/3 = 8.33 ,+ 2/3 = .67 ... so 8.33 + .67 = 9 $ and the rest 3/3 = 1 $ was returned to each.

30 $ is paid
1$,1$,1$ = 3$ is back back to men ...so we are left with 27$
out of 27$, 25$ is paid for the room(since manager deduct 5$)
so 27$-25$= 2$ ( this is taken by belly boy)
its quite simple..

First answer is right. But why not figure this out. Bellboy was to return $5.00. You davide $5.00 by 3= $1.66. $1.66 times 3= $4.98 your 2 cents short. the 1.66 rounded up becomes $1.70. $1.70 times 3= $5.10 now your 10 cents over. You take the $5.00 and devide it by 3 comes out to 1.666666666666666 for ever. so 1.666 rounded up give you 1.67. 3 times 1.67= $5.01 your still over by 1 cent. This will give you something to work on you like math so much.

the hotel took 25 $
belll boy took 2.
27 = 25+2
So I see that problem was in calculation
