Sounds like he got a bit more than he was thinking of. Since he never did actually object, I think that you were within the parameters that he had laid out, even though I'm betting that he wasn't ready for your rapid shift.
It terms of this or any sexual activity, it's good to know what limits the other has. One is not going to know every limit that they have, even if they think about it. The important thing is that they are not violated when determined. However, limits do exist to be pushed upon.
