When are they going to understand lowering or repealing taxes, like the estate tax, benefits most everyone. The government doesn't need all that money to run (at least not if it runs efficiently). I don't see Democrats proposing tax cuts for the middle class only, so I wish they'd turn their criticism into something tangible or shut up.

Amen - I totally agree. But this goes both ways! Both dems and reps have this thing now where they have to argue with everything the other side says!

I suppose you believe that giving the top 10,000 richest people a tax break, repealing the death tax for the wealthy and at the same time refuse to raise the minimum wage is actually helping the lower middle class and the poorest among us? If you were to split the amount proposed to be given to the richest, the effect would be the same, people would spend it and it would return to the economy, but upwards to the richest. If you give the richest money, they might spend it, but they might stash it into their investments...How can you justify lowering taxes to the very, very wealthy and a republican congress spend more than it makes, with a lot going directly into the oil indutries' coffers in a time of record profits...it all political, the real base for the republicans is the rich, they have a right to be heard (probably more than the average Joe Schmo) but the country is all of us, not just you and your buddies. The republicans have turned into the cut taxes, borrow and spend party. If someone really has that much money, we're talking making millions every year, why are you concerned that they have it cushy...100 small businesses instead of one rich family controlling us would be no loss economically...why defend the ultra rich? and to correct something someone said above, we are not reducing our deficit...they have simply reduced the amount of borrowing to 2/3 of last year's record borrowing...they keep raising the debt ceiling...read a paper once in a while, walk away fro O'Reilly during his super spins. I read the same old crap coming from republican's...no substance, just crude remarks.

Lately, I have only heard of a couple proposals for tax breaks for the wealthiest and a repeal of estate tax under $5million..about 3-4 years ago I got a few hundred on one time issue only (which makes sense to spread it around as long as it doesn't cause the gov. to borrow money). Are you thinking those one time deals are a real pattern or bribery?

Jason R, how much money do you make? (Please give the exact amount, in dollars and cents) Now, tell me, how much money do you personally stand to save as a result of repealing the estate tax or other across-the-board Republican tax cuts? (Please give the exact amount, in dollars and cents) You don't know? Then if you don't even know how it benefits YOU, how do you know it benefits everyone? And you might try to find out. Unless you're really rich, you'll be surprised at how little "benefit" you get.

Democrats HAVE proposed tax cuts for the middle and lower class only. Such targeted tax cuts were the heart of the Clinton policy. Under that policy, we had a smoking economy, and we paid off the deficit and ended up with a surplus. With the across-the board tax cuts under Reagan and the Bushes, we've gotten soaring deficits and an economy plagued by recession and stagnation.

That old refrain that Democrats have only criticism and no ideas is just Republican propaganda. You're being played.

The tax cut got me a measly $300.00 back in 6 1/2 years, and then the inflation went up on my utilities and food, and not to mention $3.25 a gallon of gasoline...No body has gotten any raises since Bush has been President.. The Scumbags always use their forced inflation as the excuse why they can't give you one, and you have to absorb the Neocons inflation on their end, at the work place too. The cretens will be out real soon and it will be a holiday when Democrats start making them pay their taxes...I'll have a BAR-B-Q. Republicans can't tell the truth and over this 6 1/2 year term have shown me and a whole lot of people what their motives are, they are not Americas friend, so I say nuke the Neocons as often as you can from now on...

I'm not. Tax cuts for the rich are ridiculous; those are the last people that need help. The only people who should be getting tax cuts are the lower-middle class. And if we did raise taxes on those super-rich people maybe we'd have things like universal health care and a better public education system, which need taxes to fund them. The Dems may not be as proactive as I'd like them to be but at least they've got the right idea.

The tax cuts sure the hell aren't helping me.
Look our gov -I mean really look, $2000. suits, airplane trips
every other day, 4 months vacation - life must be a peach
for them.
Then they wonder why there's so much crime - amazing!
If any of them had any kind of in depth education or even a
conscience, they would know, as poverty increases,
so does crime.
It's quite disturbing of how clueless they are about their own
people. Just last nite on the news, people are going without
food because they need gas to get to work.
I've met some of these people - they REALLY exist.

But look at it this way: the Democrats have to make a lot of noise so people will know they are still around and since they have no solid platform nor a person capable of running a flea market they have to talk about something. And they've chosen to complain about everything this administration says or does.

How does cutting an estate tax on people with estates over $2 million dollars help everyone?

do you think everyone has an estate over $2 million?

in other words... it's not across the board

where do i start
liberals will never shut up they hate the wealthier class and will always be suspicious of them
the government does need the money to operate - as bloated as it is - we spend more than we tax to operate it now - which is why we have a deficit every year - no it is not efficient
liberals always raise never lower taxes - they only cry foul if a landlord raises rent

Well, the only thing is that tax cuts really do only help the rich. Before the people who get the tax cuts will send that money to the poor, they will send it to the Ferrari dealers. If you catch my drift.
