This is one stereotype that I don't understand.

Those of Asian descent that I know of (mostly Koreans) are good drivers -- most pay better attention to the road than I do!

The worst drivers are the elderly -- no doubts about that. It doesn't matter what your race is, at all. You hit that age when you can't go shopping without a motorized scooter, and it's time to hang up the keys, darlings.

My opinion -- anyway. =)

This stereotype is true! Living around DC, I can say I see every nationality driving and in this area you have to know how to drive in traffic and follow traffic signals. In my experience I would say 8 out of 10 people who are driving to slow and/or drifting from one lane to another as if on accident are Asian. I have family and friends who are police officers and while driving in a car with them, they will point out a car driving like a drunk during the day and say "Asian" and they are always right.
Now as to why... This is only my guess and is not intended to sound racist (sorry if it does) but do you ever notice an Asian person walking right into you, in a crowded place like the mall? It's like they are extremely focused on point A, to point B, that they don't and can't see whatever else is around them or in the way. I believe Asian people to be typically very book smart but socially and spatially lacking

Why can't people be curious about other races w/o being called "racist?"

The reason they cant drive is because they dont turn there heads when they change lanes or back up there lazy. Also manny of them drive afraid and cant read the signs in english plus they like to ride there brakes
And usually have a lowsy attitude.

it's completely true. I live in an Asian community and its always the same problem with them. Instead of paying attention they freak out causing the majority of car accidents. This morning I almost crash with a n young Asian lady, she was ahead of me making a left on greeeennn and she accelerated and she brakes all of a sudden. What is wrong with them people, I am not saying is all of them, but most of them should not be driving out there.. Dangerous People

Asians and white girls suck at driving. Hispanics are the best drivers by far.

I drive around las vegas all day errr day, and I can attest to the stereotype of not just asians but minorities that werw born and raised outside of this country being terrible oblivious drivers. I personally drive very defensively and whenever I get cut off or have to blast my horn... its a foreigner. And I think it may have something to do with the fact that americans grow up in a car culture. Were spoon fed cars trucks motorcycles watercraft buy buy buy from a young age. And our parents usually cant wait to get us out on our own cus were spoiled lil &!+ches and we need rides all the time cus who rides the bus... and ppl in other countries dont learn to drive til they come here and start suckin on uncle Sam's teet. I would revamp the entire driving test if I were king and start throwing strollers out infront of you during ur test cus who cares how many feet ahead for blinker-this and braking distance when wet-that... thats my answer and im stickin to it

It's a misconception.

These 'Asian' drivers who are going around driving erratically were taught how to drive in America ... THAT'S why they can't drive...!!

The Asians who were taught in their own countries drive pretty well most of the time, just like people from most other countries!

I'm not saying that American driving tests are useless - it's probably just that the tester gets tired of not being understood, and passes them just so that he never has to see them again...!

It's another example of racial profiling. There has been no evidence to support your reasoning after all, you probably aren't Asian yourself. Most non-, anti- Asian people may say something about eyes. Through evolution, eastern people's eyes are smaller due to constant storms that bring rain or sand into their eyes over thousands of years. Logic states that if you can't see, you can't drive. Yet, Asians, did not have their eyes glued shut so therefore they can see, can drive, and can hear the racism around them.
