Just be kind and considerate. Listen. Tell them about their good qualities.

You pick out something to compliment them on. For instance, you meet up with a friend and she is wearing something nice or new, you compliment on that.

You go to work and someone does an extraordinary job on a project, you praise them to the skies! Great job! Superior job! Outstanding job, and so on.

Basically just look for fine qualities in people of all ages and work with that. Pretty soon it will come natural to you.

only when appropriate, only when the situation calls for it, and be sincere about the praise (overdoing it is no good too). if appropriate, conduct the praise in 'public' (with other people, co-workers around). it's very motivating.

When praising people, most importantly is to be sincere. Be sincere in whatever you want to say, drop a compliment from time to time and not be sarcarstic.
