NO. He is only trying to redeem himself.

Two years ago, Barbara Walters asked him if he dislikes Jews, and he said no. What a liar.

He is also very homophobic -- and an alcoholic. What a combination. His latest film project has been canned (about the Holocaust) ... I wonder why it was canned. Hmmmm.

Loser !!

I believe he is genuinely sorry. He's sorry that we all know his true feelings now. I feel betrayed by Mel Gibson because I defended Passion of The Christ and him when it came out. The movie is still very accurate but now I know what kind of man made it and I am sorry. I hope that he can find a way to overcome his hatred of Jews but until then he is in good company with the Jew-haters on this site.

Mel Gibson spilled the beans yesterday talking about his drug addiction. I believe he did all this while under the influence regarding the Jew issue. I think he is sorry for it over and over again.

i do. There are probably thousands of alcoholics that have said harsher things or done harsher things when drunk, it's just too bad Mel has to be scrutinized even more cuz he's a celebrity .. at least he apologized and admitted he had a problem

He was drunk when he said it, and the policeman was a Jew. My guess is that he was upset about being caught drunk. And in his drunken state lashed out at the officer in a way that he thought would be most hurtful. So, my guess is that he is not actually anti-semitic, but that he was just trying to hurt the officers feelings because he was mad about being caught. Not that it makes him entirely blameless, I mean he was DUI!!

The guy is an out-and-out anti-Semitic lunatic. He's 100% off-the-wall nuts and obsessed with Jews.

Anyone in Hollywood with any human decency will consider him persona non grata from now on.

(As if that hateful inciting movie he made wasn't enough)

Now, I know not ALL things I say when I am drunk are true...but there is usually an underlying truth to every word I blurt. The old saying goes "a drunken man's words are a sober man's thoughts". He is an anti-Semite!

You're right, he's only trying to save his *** and his Hollywood career by apologising and backtracking. It only makes him look even more two-faced. Shame on you, Mel.

I don't think he is sorry for what he said. I think he is sorry that it was publicized though. He hates that now everyone knows how ignorant he really is.
