Who do you think is the most LEGENDARY comic? None of the young comics such as Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, or Chris Farley. I mean older like Lenny Bruce, Robin Williams, George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, etc.

Lenny Bruce paved the way for Carlin,and Kinison.Used to have an album of his,the Midnight Concert at Carneigy[?]Hall.
But if you want a real treat,Gracie Allen,of Burns&Allen.Some of the stuff she came out with was so off the wall !!

1. For one liners the King of these is of course Henny Youngman.
2. As for longevity the legendary status has to go to George Carlin as he still has new material and people are still laughing at his stuff from 30 years ago like 7 words you can't say on television and his Wonderful Wino stuff.
3. The most visual comic has to be Gallagher and not just for the watermallon smashing but all his inventions and his giant furniture and toys. Many comics patern theirselves after him -- Karrot Top and Pee Wee Herman definitely have shades of this.
4. Finally I have to say the best legendary wholesome comic has to be Bill Cosby as his Noah's Ark bit and family storys are unmatched.

I've seen Jerry Seinfeld live, and he is good But, George Carlin is in a class by himself. No comparison.

I think the best comic is Bill Cosby. This man can make you laugh without cursing or sexual comments. His jokes are clean and he can make you laugh until you hurt. We need more like him.
