Moog brand makes a lifetime warranty ball joint that has a metal bearing surface instead of a nylon one. It should last longer than original.

Moog does make great suspension products including lower ball joints for the 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive S-10s. Here is a photo of a Moog lower ball joint for a '99 2wd S-10: http://www.rockauto.com/ref/Moog/Detail.html?K6145T_TOP.jpg&K6145T_ANG.jpg

ACDelco also makes a lower ball joint for the S-10 that they describe as "oversize". Here is a photo of it, thought it looks stock in the photo: http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartImage.jsp?mfgname=ACDELCO&prodlinecd=45&acpartnbr=45D2027 That might be a fix for a suspension that was built out of tolerance to begin with.

Listen to grandnational above, the Moog product is much better than the OEM part.
