I honestly do not think I could murder anyone, but then again if some pedophile messed with my beautiful little 3 year old granddaughter,I believe I could do it!

In most cases actually, statistics show that murder is an on-the-spot act. It's not planned out like it is with serial killers. So that question would not be able to be answered accordingly.

I can tell you that I don't think I would ever murder. But then how can one say this without knowing the direct or indirect circumstances? What is someone killed your baby in front of you? Perhaps, you just knocked the robber on the head with a vase, but actually killed him. This is murder. Is it not?
Planned out murder, now, is a whole different idea. One has to be predisposed to that psychologically for something to trigger the impulse to destroy another being's life.

I think this is a matter of semantics, but to consider it would not necessarily require an extreme. Just like suicide or robbery or infidelity, I'm sure the thought has crossed most people's minds, if however fleeting.

If someone killed someone I love, I may try to kill them. I wouldn't consider it murder though, I'd consider it execution.

I'm not sure it's really possible to answer this question meaningfully as a hypothetical. I wouldn't be able to categorize situations that have a very low probability of occuring. And even if they did occur, life is such that few details would coincide with what one has tried to anticipate. I think it's natural to assume one would defend oneself and loved ones from imminent danger, with violence if necessary. However, it's hard for me to see beyond that.

the only way i would consider killing someone was if my children or myself was in extreme danger. then i would try to figure out a way out first and kill only if i had to.

we have been in some scrapes and ppl threatened to hurt us, but for me prayer to my Creator was enough to keep us safe. i mean ppl came up on our porch and threatened us and threw things at the house and tried to drive my daughter off the road and still i prayed for the Angels of safety to watch over us and finally after about a year and a half they finally left us alone. it was harrowing but i trusted my Creator and He protected us. now if they would have come in the house, i would have defended us, but as long as they stayed outside we were safe inside. the car incident was the worst, but the dude drove himself off the road into a ditch so i know she was being taken care of even then.

here's praying you never feel the need to take a life.
lifting you on eagle's wings,

If someone hurt my family, I think I would do some bodily harm to that person. But yet I don't believe that killing someone is ever right. It is just revenge not justice. Besides I can find a better way to punish someone instead of death. Cruel and Unusual punishment comes to mind.

I was going to say never. I would never take a life. Kill me if you must, but I will never take a life. It goes against everything that I stand for. But one poster is right...threaten my family (and prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that they would do it) and I might. Because my family--my husband and my kids--are everything to me.

Can't imagine anything bad enough for suicide or murder.
