any name can be used for a girl or a boy.... a name is just a name.. of course if it is traditionally a name for a girl and you give it to a boy you will find your son pretty annoyed about it later on...

Though many males do have names that are considered female names..

Giving a girl a name which is considered a male name may be a way of giving the child some extra confidence.
