Hysterosalpingogram is a diagnostic procedure. It can outline the uterine cavity to look for any polyps or masses in the cavity. It can also be used to check whether there is any blockage in the fallopian tubes.

The procedure involves introduction of a radio-opague dye into the uterus through the cervix and taking Xray pictures at intervals. It is a painful procedure because of the injection of dye under pressure.
