I was just wondering, cuz my dad gave me 300, I think that's just nothing!

Depends what he was going there for? If he is going to go buy all his back to school clothes, or all his winter clothes or some other big shopping trip like that, then 200-300 sounds ok. A 16 year old doesn't need designer clothes. Otherwise, why is dad giving money at all? Unless the kid needs something, the dad shouldn't be giving a 16 year old all kinda of money to go out and buy what he wants. The kid should get a weekly or monthly allowance and budget it as he sees fit. Whether he wants a shopping trip, movies, gas, or whatever. If allowance is not enough, 16 is old enough to find a job. Maybe the kid will budget his money better if he has to earn it.

If you are 16 years old, have a girlfriend and want to go to the mall, my guess is that you have a car....soooo...I wouldn't give my 16 year old anything...since he should have a job...and probably has more spending money than mom and dad.

well my friend your dad is far nicer than I would be, because I would not give my 16 year old any money to take their bf or gf to the mall and this is because they would have a JOB and make their own money!! So be fortuneate that I am not your parent and that your father was so generous!!!!!!!!!!

I would give no more then $50. A 16yr old should be able to earn his own money shouldn't need $300. from his father.

It is a lot more than most people have in their pockets. Some people get paid a lot less for one whole week's work, and some people who are on fixed incomes do get about that much for one whole month.
Also, if you want to have that kind of pocket money, go to work. You're old enough.

I'm a mother of a 17 yr old..I wouldn't have gave him anything..be glad that you got a lovable and giving father..
