Most places legally cannot hire you if you are 14. Sign up for cooking classes in high school. Take some accounting and business classes too. Someday, you may want to own your own restaurant or catering business, so you will need them. Good luck to you.

The best way is to start off as a busboy at a nice or family owned resteraunt. That way you can work your way up to server etc... and meanwhile talk to the Chef/Cook about what he does and how he cooks things. If you show an interest, most people will be incline to help.
Working the fast food resteraunts will not put you on the road to where you want to go. There will be no one's brain to pick on how they cook things and to get little lesson's from unless you count the french fry dipper? lol

Talk to you school counselor as soon as possible concerning dual enrollment between high school and college.

If they say you're not old enough, push the issue if you really want it and are able to get to college (rides, etc).

Good luck!
