A good question. Can you be more specific about what they're doing or not doing?

What were you doing before your issues arose. Has anything changed? Recent installation of programs, extensions, hardware, etc?

Was it ever working properly? If so when? Did anything change between when it WAS working and when (now) it isn't?

Did you have another OS installed BEFORE XP? If so, which OS? If you "upgraded" windows to XP, the drivers that were carried over to XP may not have been written for XP. You may need to download new drivers specifically written for XP from the manufacturer's website, uninstall the current drivers, unplug the hardware, reinstall the NEW drivers, then plug the hardware back in and allow windows to re-find it. This usually works, assuming drivers are available for the specific hardware... You'd have to check with the original manufacturer as to what drivers are avaialble or what specific drivers to look for (if your original manufacturer: HP, compaq, e-machines or whatever doesn't have their own drivers for it; maybe the original equipment manufacturer does: like soundblaster, turtlebeach, inland, etc.).

You MIGHT be able to simply go into the Control Panels, into Sytem, into Hardware tab, into the Device manager, and tell it to "uninstall" the hardware, then tell it to refresh (it's on one of the menus in the window, I think). It'll search for changes to hardware and/or new hardware. Windows may find a newer better driver in its own archive. Unless this was a fresh install from scratch. In which case you'd need to find out who made the hardware that's not working under XP and see if they have a driver that will work.

If not, sometimes you can find similar drivers on www.driver-guide.com that DO work, but it take searching and fairly specific info about the card or device, like model number, spcific chipsets used on the board, etc. That can be a pain for older hardware unless it's really generic and used everywhere. Even for us tech types. Moreso for the uninitiated.

This is the link from MS to support SP2, And it has several links and also offers tech support "live" to help the transition. The Second Link, when you go there, it has several links and at the bottom of the page it even shows you how to remove SP2 if you are wanting that, and like the previous poster said, update your drivers from the manufacture of the problem devices, they all offer updates to the SP2 issue. Good Luck..

You may need to reload the drivers for them. You should have received the driver discs for each... sound card driver probably came with your system, printer driver with the printer.

Download the latest driver off the internet from the maker of the hardwares website. Most of the drivers are free, so look hard. www.hp.com may work. Should be a support or drivers column somewhere.

If you can't get the drivers please downgrade back to windows 2000 or 98. Hacked versions of windows xp will cause issues. You are better off buying one from newegg.com
