All they had was "A.D.D. Videos" that showed one video from each of the past 25 years. VH1 Classic showed the first 24 hours of MTV's airplay, but MTV itself could only devote 1 hour of time to its own anniversary!

Some are saying that they didn't want to alienate their young fans. SO WHAT??? It was history in the making when this channel launched!

Because their audience now just watches lyp synching manufactured blonde bimbos and dumb reality shows and would never have patience to see a special featuring elton john or metallica or any of the bands that made the channel famous.

Until VH-1 appeared on the scene, MTV really was Music Television. When shows like The Real World and Beavis & Butt-head came out, MTV stopped being Music Television (i.e. videos 24/7) and started being Television about Music, with mixed results.

The world of popular music is very different now than it was 25 years ago, and I think MTV decided that anybody over 30 must not be a hip MTV watcher, so any kind of anniversary special would get weak ratings.
