An add on is something that does not come standard with something. i.e., a house, a car, a computer, etc. All of these things may come with a standard package. If you "add" something to the standard package that is an "add on".

an add on can be a number of things depending on your question where i work an add on is considered something else being ordered when the actuall order is being processed
