We are forced to kill and are being lied to currently. What's the difference between us and a dictatorship? Not much; but a draft would suck for all those pretty little bitches, sons and daughters of the rich and the famous. See if they could pay their way out of that one too.

What kind of draft? Like a draft of an essay before the final copy?

We had a draft.. in our living room. All we had to do was replace a few old windows and the draft went away. I don't think a draft is a major concern.

Thought it really sucked back in 1970 when my draft number was 18 so I'd probably feel the same now.

A draft is the worse thing that could happen, I would rather see mass non stop bombing insted of more troops on the field.

I don't like the idea at all.

If people want to join the forces it should be their choice as it's a very traumatic thing to go to war. Who has the right to tell someone to lay down their life?

Think back to the first world war where people were conscripted, then shot as deserters if they tried to flee. Horrible.

Also, isn't it something of an oxymoron to force someone to go to war to protect freedom. If you're conscripted you don't have the freedom you're supposedly fighting to protect!

That relatives of the people in Washington (senators, congressmen and white house cabinet memebers, plus the president and VP) should have the lowest numbers - they should have to sacrifice first.

Audra - I agree, when the US is threatened, but not for wars of imperialism for control of Oil.

It's a scary thought but if it is neccessary then I say OK. I believe that if you are going to enjoy the benifits of living in the U.S. then you should be willing to fight for those benifits.

Despicable. I am a complete and total pacifist, so I have a problem with anyone trying to kill anyone. But when someone tries to tell -me- that -I- am supposed to try to kill someone? It's simply not acceptable.
