She is a little overweight on new pasture and kinda jumps when I tighten her cinch.

instead of cinching her all up at once, cinch her one hole at a time. When you think you have got it tight enough, lunge her a little and then tighten it a little more. you should be able to get two fingers in between her and the girth and it should be snug. If you hvae any doubt, pick up her front legs one by one and stretch them out, almost liek you are handshaking with her. This will stretch the skin out from the elbows so that she isnt being pinched under her girth. I have had numerous problems with my one horse and i learned my lesson.

Tight enough to ensure that you and the horse will not be separated while riding.

one of my horses had that problom and what you do is tighten it tell you cant anymore and make sure to check it after to make sure he didnt puff out her chest

You should be able to fit two fingers in it.
