Dr. Demento was one of my childhood heroes. I have too too many favorites to list them all.

I grew up in So. CA, in Dr. Demento's hometown, Culver City. We heard him on KMET 94.7. In the La Ballona days parade, he was frequently an honored community member, with the Westwood One studios right there on Washington Blvd.

I comitted numerous snippets and entire bits to memory, including zappa's t!tt!ies and beer, shel silverstein's smoke-off, scott beech's religion and politics, all the new verses to shaving cream, dead puppies, and frosty the dopeman - just to name a few.

They are still with me.

Dr. Demento gave Weird Al Yankovick immortality when he played the breakout hit "My Bologna," recorded in a restroom at Cal Poly San Luis (if memory serves.) You can download Weird Al's new single from the good doctor's website, below.

"My G*d there's something pinching at my feet.
Look at what I found, why ain't that neat?
It's my roachclip and my bong,
They've been missing for so long,
All this time they must have been beneath my feet."

from "Making Love in a Subaru."

Big Fan here. I got all his basement tapes and some of his anniversary stuff. I would have to save that my favorites are too numerous to mention but here are some stand outs

The Old Philospher
Boot to the Head
Dead Puppies
We Love Barney Fife
Star Trekkin

and of Course Weird Al's "Still Billy Joel to Me" that and his PacMan song I was able to find only through Dr. Demento. He has his own site and fan club here is a link below.
