Of course it is quite uncomfortable and not very healthy for your feet, but we still like to wear them from time to time. I suggest you ONLY wear them from time to time and for short periods, because they can do lasting damage to your feet, but getting back to how long it took me to get used to them... well not too long actually. Of course I was quite young when I started wearing them - around 14 or 15 I think? And I'd been wearing my mum's around the house ever since I got the chance at a young age. These days it's more running shoes and riding boots for me.

I would suggest you try some ankle and balance exercises... try standing barefoot or in runners on a step holding onto something for balance and hang your heels over the edge, then lower your weight so your heels are below your toes and then lift your weight until you are standing on tip toe. Go up and down like this for about 15 repetitions... as you get balance try not holding on. Also you can use a band of the white elastic and sit down put out your legs and wrap the elastic around one foot while you pull it in different directions with the other foot... eg back and forth, side to side up around and around... not forgetting to swap and do the other side... also you could balance on one foot and then the other, if you can do that try with your eyes closed. It's a good idea to strengthen your ankles even if you don't wear high heels... Hope my advice is some use to you.

They say the best training for this is to practice wearing high heels whilst pushing a shopping cart, sort of like training wheels, don't giggle until you try it

Just once - because I was stupid and didn't work up to the height. Start with a lower heel and then get taller ones as you get used to them. You can't just START with the 4" stiletto heels - you have to work up to them!

When you're wearing high heels, just imagine you're standing on your toes, only supported by heels. That helped me a lot.

It didn't take me long, though. I think my early ballet lessons helped me get used to that.

I's those city sidewalk grates you have to watch out for. No balance is needed, stroll along as if you have nothing better to do on a nice warm summer's day.

i must be made for heels because i've worn them for 2 yrs and never before when i wear them have I fallen because of them... i think you just have to concintrate on walking than ever before and once you start thinking and focusing then will you balance. it doesn't take time, young grasshopper (lol), it takes your mind!

i would practice at home on the carpet.i would recommend using "starter" heels, for example, really short ones.
(aka:kitty heels) then when you get the hang of it start wearing longer ones.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT♥

I never have twisted my ankles in them, but I have twisted my ankles on occasion in other shoes. I suppose it is a matter of luck, partly.

practice at home first to break them in.... & when it comes to high heels good posture is super important ....stomache in, shoulders straight & i know its sounds odd but they're kinda like roller skates - be very aware of how you distribute your weight (ie: don't lean too forward or back).....& tell yourself you can do it & that you look good
